Mikao Usui Sensei, founder of the Usui Reiki healing system.

Reiki is a form of energy healing developed by Mikao Usui Sensei in Japan in the early 20th century. Based on the understanding that all conditions of imbalance are rooted in the human energy field, Reiki is a hands-on energy treatment that reduces stress, relieves pain, balances emotions, and facilitates personal healing and spiritual growth. It is experienced as deeply relaxing and grounding both for the practitioner and the client.

In-person Reiki session

You are fully clothed and lying on a massage table. I gently place my hands and palms down, on, or above your body in specific energy locations. Reiki differs from other touch therapies in that no pressure, massage, or manipulation is involved. After the session, people commonly report a sense of calm, mental clarity, and sleeping well. You can read more about reiki here

Distant Reiki

During our session, I will assist the flow of Reiki to you. Reiki energy flows to the place of highest need, whether mental, physical, or emotional. Following the treatment, I will follow up with a phone call or an email describing what was felt in the subtle body and energy centers, along with recommendations and guidance. Distant Reiki sessions are beneficial for people who cannot travel to get an in-person session.

Reiki Trainings

Reiki Level 1: you will learn the history of Reiki and the main Reiki lineages, the subtle body and the chakra system, basic Reiki hand positions, and steps to perform Reiki on another person and on yourself. After a Reiki Level 1 training, you will be attuned (the opening of the energy channels to allow the practitioner to connect with universal life force energy) and initiated as a Level 1 Reiki practitioner. You are encouraged to develop a consistent and regular self-practice at this stage. You will need Level 2 training and attunement to provide an entire Reiki healing session. You are recommended, however, to practice what you've learned with family and friends, animals, and plants and build your confidence. Upon completion, you'll be certified through the Usui lineage of Reiki.

Reiki Level 2: The second step on your journey to becoming a Reiki healer is the Reiki Level 2 training, which requires a Reiki Level 1 certificate. Reiki Level 2 can be taken directly after Reiki Level 1, or you can leave as much space between the trainings as you need. During this training, you will be introduced to the powerful Reiki symbols and instructed in their proper use. You will learn to send Reiki from a distance, bridging time and space with the Distance symbol. You will receive the Level 2 initiation attunement at the end of this training. After your Reiki Level 2 training, you'll have the ability to do distance healing work, and you'll be able to work with your own Reiki clients. You'll receive the Reiki Healing Touch Manual. Upon completion, you'll be certified through the Usui lineage of Reiki.

Advanced Reiki Training (ART): In this half-day intensive class, you will learn the Usui Master Symbol and receive the attunement; you'll also learn advanced techniques for achieving goals and solving problems with Reiki and Reiki aura clearing. Master/Teacher level must take this class first.

Reiki III – Master/Teacher Training: In this two-day intensive class, you will learn how to do all the Usui/Tibetan attunements, including the Master attunement, how to do a healing attunement, two additional ancient Tibetan symbols and the values and spiritual orientation of a Reiki Master. Much of the class time is spent practicing the attunements. If you are not interested in passing Reiki on to others, you could choose to stop after the ART training.
